Salado Ladies Community League

We are committed to enhancing, improving, and promoting the Village of Salado.

Salado Ladies Community League's purpose is to sponsor events, programs, and activities that enhance, improve, and promote the Village of Salado. Additionally, and equally important, are the grants awarded to local non-profit organizations and the annual scholarship awarded to a Salado ISD Senior.

The Salado LCL was informally organized in 1973 by an interested group of friends who met in different homes to help promote the Village of Salado. The Salado Chamber of Commerce requested their help to organize and run several Village events. The ladies decided to formally organize by electing a board of officers on April 11, 1974.

The Salado LCL has raised over $270,000 since its beginnings.

College Scholarship

We are excited that we can provide a $5000 college scholarship to the selected Salado HS senior. We work with the High School to identify participants. Our Scholarship team review the essays and school records to select the recipient.

Applications are provided to the school counselors in March.  Applications can be requested by emailing SaladoLCL73@gmail.com.

Grants to non-profit organizations

Non-profit organizations in the Salado area submit grant request forms. The Salado LCL's board reviews the grant requests on a periodic basis and awards grants based on need and funds available. The grant request form can be downloaded from our Facebook page or requested from SaladoLCL73@gmail.com.

Some of the organizations that we have helped are: Public Arts League of Salado; Heart & Hands Food Pantry; Salado Senior Center; Salado Education Foundation; Salado Elves; Brotherhood Academy; and Salado Christmas Cheer.

Fundraising

Fundraising enables our organization to help programs in Salado.

Our signature fund raiser is the Christmas in October Jingle Walk. The event is a 3 day shopping crawl through Salado's "Magic Mile" of boutiques and eateries. The boutiques order their Christmas stock early so that you can get an early start on your Christmas shopping. The event sells out every year.

A new fundraiser started in 2024 is a Salado Calendar that displays pictures from the Salado area and our local businesses offer specials on specific days of the month or year. They make great gifts.
